Rain across KP and AJK turns weather pleasant; landslides disrupt roads

Rainfall of varying intensity has been reported across parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, bringing a noticeable change in weather conditions and turning the atmosphere pleasant in several areas.

According to reports, areas including Mansehra, Swat, and Malakand received intermittent rain. In Azad Kashmir, light to heavy showers were recorded in Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, and Nikkiyal, improving overall weather conditions in the region.

However, the rainfall also triggered disruptions in some areas. Due to landslides, the main highway at Murnat was blocked, causing difficulties in traffic movement. In addition, heavy water flow in Nallah Jagraan led to the suspension of operations at the Kundal Shahi power house, resulting in electricity outages in several surrounding localities.

In another incident, the Karakoram Highway near Lower Kohistan’s Jejal area was also closed due to rainfall and landslides, further affecting connectivity in the region.

Meanwhile, while northern areas experienced rainfall and cooler weather, southern regions of Sindh continued to face a severe heatwave. In contrast, light rain in Islamabad and Lahore helped improve weather conditions in these major cities.

Authorities are monitoring the situation as further weather changes are expected, especially in mountainous regions where landslides and flooding risks remain high.
